My Typical Day

Working in science means everyday is very different, but can include running experiments, writing papers, analysing data, lecturing, meeting with students/colleagues, and deleting mountains of spam email.

What I'd do with the money

Put it toward some much needed lab equipment!

My Interview

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Optimistic, ambitious, tall!

Who is your favourite singer or band?

Kids from the Mill

What is the most fun thing you've done?

Karaoke with workmates in Kyoto earlier this year; unfortunately there is video evidence.

If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!

I’d love to travel in space, know the true story of the JFK assassination, and live long enough to see a Western Bulldogs’ premiership (could be some time).

What did you want to be after you left school?

An artist! But I eventually realised I wasn’t particularly good.

Were you ever in trouble in at school?

Of course! I remember behaving fairly horribly throughout my entire Year 8.

What's the best thing you've done as a scientist?

Travelling the world and meeting people from different backgrounds is always a fantastic experience.

Tell us a joke.

A horse walks into a bar, and the barman says “so why the long face?”
