I would put the prize money towards a community engagement project, to encourage young people to be involved in science, and to show them that it’s not just dreary textbooks and lab work! It’s also cool because it would demonstrate that you can also be involved in science as a hobby, and you don’t have to devote your life to it to be involved in some way!!
My profile outlines in detail what I would do with the prize money – I think it would be really cool because everyone can be involved, and it would produce a really nice video and promotional material at the end! 🙂
Unfortunately there’s just not enough money that’s put into science and research, despite there being plenty of great ideas that could potentially help many people. For us, it’s often about affording new equipment that allows us to do cool new research, and the best studies possible. Usually the money we get doesn’t cover equipment costs, and we often get stuck using old, unreliable equipment, which isn’t good for our work.
