It depends on what the sickness is, usually it is through small drops of fluid which contain the germs that cause the sickness. For example, when you sneeze or cough when you have a cold, those tiny little drops of fluid are full of the germs that are making you sick and if they land on people, they can accidentally breathe in those germs.

So always use a tissue, cover your mouth when you cough and wash your hands when you are sick!
