Question: why women get depressed more often than men?

  1. Aha, basically the question that is he basis for my PhD!

For now, what we know is that it doesn’t seem to be an effect of women reporting depression more often than men, nor does it seem to be an effect of depression being more accepted by society as a female problem.

Because depression often occurs after giving birth, some scientists say it has to do with changing levels of hormones rather than too much or too little of a hormone. There also seem to be strong mood changes during the menstrual cycle, so again the fingers point towards hormones.

So I’m going to stick some hormones on some brain cells and see what happens, call me in three years!
